Bored at home?! Never fear - The YesTribe is here!!

Check out this ever-growing list of things you could be doing to fill your time at home during this period of uncertainty. There’s only so much daytime TV, Netflix and social media scrolling we can stomach so think about ways to turn your time wasted into time spent productively. Isolation doesn’t have to be so isolating!

  • The National Theatre are screening shows live on YouTube

  • For those of you who are bored, interested or looking for stuff for home schooling there may be something for you at Oxford University site. For example, Maths - see the piece on "Why Does Rudolph Have A Shiny Nose?", Opera every day, Europeana - lots of "stuff" from around Europe, Bodleian Library – online history resources, Philosophy, Make Digital Music Electric Telepathy’s Online Synthesizer, Science and LOADS more!

  • Learn a new skill - watch this space for some YesTribers who have workshops coming up

  • Sign up to a free online course with Future Learn. They have a massive range of courses from institutions worldwide. Note: if you want a certificate at the end you sometimes have to pay .

  • Check out our Ways to Help in your Community Blog

  • Go and work on a local farm to help feed the nation!

  • Head over to YesTriber Claudia Colvin’s blog about staying sane indoors and get some perspective as well as some handy tips!

  • Teach your elderly relatives and neighbours to use FaceTime, Skype or Whatsapp so they can stay in touch

  • Visit the UK Government website for ways you can help safely, including those which don’t involve leaving the house!

  • Organise Digital Date Nights with your friends and relatives - imagine you’re going out to dinner so make your dinner, have glass of something at the ready and schedule a time to get on a video chat with them

  • Visit Action For Happiness - they have a bunch of resources to keep the positivity flowing like their Coping Calendar and free 10 Days of Happiness coaching programme

  • YesTriber MeFe Salazar has created a resource for Spanish speakers to share fun things to do during the lockdown - visit Cuarentena Creativa on Facebook

  • Bake - start a bake-off with your friends/family members :) nom nom nom!

  • Take part in virtual run/walk: Rundinavia! How about using your one outdoor activity of the day to take part in a 3,000km family adventure?   • Do something with films and photos on your phone - delete ones you don’t need and sort the rest into folders

  • Dig out your bike and learn some bike maintenance skills with Jago Hartland. He has uploaded some quick and easy videos to help you get your bike ready for your daily exercise allowance!

  • Are you in the educational sector looking to volunteer their time and share ideas, especially as schools close? Join the group for Educators Against Corona

  • Learn a language! Google for the best free apps to use or register for an online course

  • Download a free editing app and make your smart phone movies into awesome home movies and delete all the clips you don’t need.

  • Exercise!! There are a bunch of videos on YouTube for exercises to do at home so make some space in your living room and get to it. Plus, social distancing doesn’t mean you can’t go for a run or a cycle so up you get and off you go!

  • Join Wild Dog Fitness for online classes for adult and kids

  • Using Stava of MapMyRun you can add a little extra challenge to your exercise by creating art with your route!

  • Learn to play a musical instrument - YouTube is awesome for beginner tutorials

  • DIY at home :) finally put those shelves up, reclaim old furniture that needs a facelift, up-cycle that old wood into something useful or channel your inner decorating interior designer!

  • Gardening - if you don’t have a garden, try window boxes or offer to do a neighbours weeding for them. If you’re an absolute beginner, get your free veg/herb/fruit planting calendar personalised to your UK town at GardenFocused.co.uk

  • Arts and craft - make some gifts to make people smile!

  • Bring back the art of letter writing
