The Waterbike Collective journey started on April 28th 2018 in Bishop’s Stortford and concludes in London’s Limehouse Basin on September 30th, having travelled almost 1000 miles thanks to the support of over 1000 volunteers.
We created this journey because we believe that adventure should be accessible to everyone and do some good at the same time. We collected over 150,000 pieces of litter together and spread a whole lot of joy to those who saw the waterbike pass by.

The Route
Starting in Bishops Stortford, the waterbike travelled down the Stort and Lea rivers before travelling across London and north along the Grand Union Canal. Over five months the waterbike passed through Milton Keynes, Leicester, Nottingham. Sheffield, Leeds, Blackburn, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Gloucester, Bristol, Bath and Reading, before a final portage to Birmingham to begin the final stretch towards London. =
Meet the waterbike
The Schiller Bike is a stable, fun way to explore on water. It also happens to hold the world distance record for a waterbike.
There's a handy platform at the front for litter-picking equipment and plenty of carrying space for camping gear and personal items for each rider. It was the perfect craft for this project, thanks for supporting us Schiller Bikes!

The Waterbike Collective is supported by KEEN Europe, who have enabled us to cover the costs necessary to carry out the initiative's aims, including producing a post-journey Plastic Clever Blueprint which will be made available to all schools in the UK. Get Involved
Even though the Waterbike Collective has ended you can still take the waterbike for a litterpicking spin in London. Email hello@sayyesmore.com to sign up.
Organise a group clean-up, wherever you live
Walk alongside the waterbike in your local area, helping to collect litter and support the leg. Don't forget to log your pick-up!
Accommodate/feed/support whoever is riding the waterbike through your region - they will be very grateful!
Share on social media: share a positive message with our hashtags on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. We'll even write a quick copy-and-pastable sentence so you don't even need to think about it!
